Life used to be soooo simple....

Noooooooo........

I think I’m losing the will to live :(

Simply trying to cancel my various Barclaycard Credit Cards (including apparently an ‘Egg’ credit card that I had no idea I even had) with sufficient combined credit to settle the Cypriot fiscal woes & Cards that haven’t been used for about 5 years but for which I periodically receive letters enticing me to beg, steal & borrow loads, on credit, with % cashbacks and wonderful free gifts that will push me into debt..

Tried to ‘cancel’ (not apply) these Barclaycards and I’m being passed from pillar to post – from UK accents > Pakistan > US > UK accents once more; supplying long-forgotten intimate personal info including stuff that probably changed when Noah floated his Ark.

Finally over the last hurdle & have ‘succeeded’, only to be transferred to a New York-accented lady suffering severe sinusitis & heavier breathing than a naughty nuisance call, who is desperately trying to ‘sell’ me (I actually feel sorry for her now) another Barclaycard with all the trimmings…

Oh dear!

More practically, most issuers stop cards after a period of disuse. Not Barclaycard ?

Hi Norman ,
this is just the reality of banks today - not interested in what their customers want, just in maintaining their profits and revenues. High time for some market disruption, I feel !! And maybe even a popular movement, suggesting investing in businesses via crowd funding is a better place to keep our money than in banks. I await the revolution !!!

Peter, I simply can't be bothered.... I'd rather watch the BBC1 testcard & even that was removed about 20 years ago... Nope, think it's sorted & if not, who cares.

If you don't want them, send them to me with PIN numbers I'll make sure they don't feel left out.

Oh & by the way, the total 'credit' over x 4 cards issued by Barclaycard to me was a touch over £60,000 which is madness - surely!

Waste of time Peter. I requested the 'preferred' address for 'cancellation in writing' & even though all Cards were 'Barclaycard-issued' it seems that I had to write to each one separately & to differing addresses. Plus, they were unsure themselves where to address the... Would appear that very few people cease/cancel Credit Crd accounts; most request new accounts/cards and thus Barclaycard can get to act as self-appointed deities.

The best way to do it is in writing
