Opposition over plans to drop charges to 0800 numbers...

Plans to make calls to 0800 numbers free from mobile phones could be derailed after an industry backlash, by the UK mobile providers and others, against proposals made by the regulator to abolish ‘rip-off’ charges.

Ofcom wants to push ahead with proposals to make calling non-geographic numbers - such as those starting with 0800, 084x and 087x - free from mobiles, despite growing criticism that consumers are confused about what calls cost.

The jury is out, we wait to see…

But in the meantime:

SimplyFone continue to be a leading supplier of many permissible NGNs (non-geographic numbers) including 0800s, 020 3, 0161, 08xx etc
